Shared Branches

As a member of TN Members 1st FCU, you have access to more than 5,000 shared branches and nearly 30,000 shared surcharge-free ATMs across the country! The CO-OP ATM and Shared Branch networks were created by credit unions who joined forces to give their members the kind of financial convenience traditionally only available from big banks. All with the savings and personal service you expect from credit unions.
CO-OP offers ATMs at a variety of places you may commonly shop, such as Costco®, Walgreens and 7-Eleven®. As well as full-service interaction through shared branching, for those times when your transactions require more than an ATM. It’s easy to find the nearest location.
At a CO-OP Shared Branch location you can:
- Make deposits and withdrawals
- Make loan payments
- Receive loan advances
- Access Visa funds
To complete Shared Branch transactions, you will need:
- Your account number
- Credit union name
- A valid government-issued photo ID
At TN Members 1st FCU, we would be happy to assist you with Shared Branching at the Teller Line of either our Oak Ridge or Knoxville branch locations during posted lobby hours. You will need your ID, credit union name, and account number. Shared Branching transactions are not regularly done in the Drive-Thru, this may vary based on public health and safety precautions at each individual branch. Please contact the credit union if you have questions or would like a complete list of available services.
While TN Members 1st FCU is federally insured, not all other credit unions are federally insured. If you need information on the insurance status of your credit union, please contact your credit union directly. TN Members 1st FCU locations do not place or release holds. Only your credit union can do that. All transactions require valid ID such as an unexpired Driver’s License, State ID, Passport, U.S. Military Identification, valid Permanent Resident Card, or Resident Alien Card. We are required to verify your ID information, photo, and signature. Funds deposited may not be immediately available. Check with your credit union for funds availability information. TN Members 1st FCU reserves the right to refuse any item presented for deposit or payment. Please note that some services may vary depending on location. We encourage you to contact individual credit unions if you have questions or would like a list of the available services before your visit for a complete list of available services.
In addition to their website offering Shared Branch and ATM locators, CO-OP locator tools include smartphone apps, text, GPS download, and a toll-free number. And again, all this convenience comes with no surcharge fees from either network. It’s one more way credit union membership helps keep more money in your pocket.

IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR OUT-OF-STATE TRANSACTIONS
Tennessee Members 1st and the Shared Branch Network understand it's crucial to help protect you from account takeover fraud. That's why new ID proofing measures, called IDCheck, are being introduced for in-person visits to Shared Branch transactions. This new fraud prevention measure allows us to make certain it is you trying to access your account, not an imposter.
Starting May 1, 2025, if you visit TN Members 1st or other financial institutions in the Shared Branch Network with an out-of-state ID, you will be required to identify and authenticate through a QR code and a one-time passcode multifactor authentication verification before you can complete a transaction with a member service representative. At TN Members 1st FCU, this additional layer of authentication will be used for all transactions using out-of-state IDs.
How it Works:
- Scan the QR code located in the Shared Branch financial institution you're visiting or go to verify.coop.org.
- Select your credit union's name from a drop-down list.
- Enter your member number and the last four digits of your Social Security Number.
- Upload a photo of your ID.
- Take a selfie.
- Show your one-time passcode to the member service representative assisting you with your transaction.
You can save your validation for an even quicker experience the next time you visit a Shared Branch location!
Starting May 1, 2025, if you visit TN Members 1st or other financial institutions in the Shared Branch Network with an out-of-state ID, you will be required to identify and authenticate through a QR code and a one-time passcode multifactor authentication verification before you can complete a transaction with a member service representative.
Example 1:
You live in New York and have a New York driver's license. You're visiting family in Tennessee and stop by TN Members 1st FCU to complete a Shared Branch transaction. You WOULD be required to identify and authenticate through a QR code and a one-time passcode multifactor authentication verification before you can complete a transaction with a member service representative.
Example 2:
You're a college student who has moved to East Tennessee for college. You have updated your mailing address and have a Tennessee driver's license with your Tennessee address. You WOULD NOT have to complete any additional identity verification before completing a transaction with a member service representative.
If you are visiting TN Members 1st FCU and looking to complete a Shared Branch transaction with an out-of-state license, you will need a non-expired government ID, such as a driver's license.
Please note that IDCheck does NOT support military IDs. Although a military ID is a valid ID in the teller line, military IDs are not supported in IDCheck due to a federal regulation that does not allow federal IDs to be copied or photographed. IDCheck will reject a military ID; photocopying any U.S. government identification is a violation of Title 18, US Code Part I, Chapter 33, Section 701. If the member does not have a valid non-military ID to present, an alternate verification method should be used.
- Scan the QR code located in the Shared Branch financial institution you're visiting or go to verify.coop.org.
- At a TN Members 1st Branch, you'll find the necessary QR code posted near the teller line.
- Select your credit union's name from a drop-down list.
- Enter your member number and the last four digits of your Social Security Number.
- Upload a photo of your ID.
- Take a selfie.
- Show your one-time passcode to the member service representative assisting you with your transaction.
