ADVISORY BOARD
Our Advisory Board, made up of representatives from the communities we serve, allows the credit union to learn about and better understand our membership and community service areas, the needs and challenges faced by individuals within those areas and guides the credit union to increase its impact through the provision of well-informed products and services.
The credit union is currently seeking potential members of the Advisory Board who:
- Will help the Advisory Board satisfy the accountability and structural requirements set forth by the Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) Advisory Board composition and structure characteristics.
- Are members of Tennessee Members 1st FCU or is otherwise connected to the individuals and communities served by Tennessee Members 1st FCU.
- Provide community development services to the individuals and communities served by Tennessee Members 1st FCU.
- Are familiar with the needs and challenges faced by the individuals and communities served by Tennessee Members 1st FCU.
- Are aligned with the credit union's community development mission of actively contributing to the development and vibrancy of the communities we serve by financially empowering low-income and underserved communities with responsible and accessible products and services.
- Have the time and capacity to commit to meaningful, regular engagement for a full term.
scope of advisement
The Advisory Board will advise the Tennessee Members 1st Board of Directors regarding the following topics, with individual tops addressed as the Advisory Board sees fit. The Advisory Board may set the priority of topics addressed.
- Unmet needs that individuals and/or businesses membership and community service areas of the credit union are facing.
- Challenges that individuals and/or businesses in the credit union's membership and community service areas are seeking to overcome.
- Opportunities to serve, educate, and empower the credit union's membership and community service areas.
- Enhancements to products and/or services that would serve the credit union's membership and community service areas.
- New products or services that would serve the credit union's membership and community service areas.
- Need for and design of community development efforts.
- Other strategic and policy matters affecting the credit union's membership and community service areas.
TIME COMMITMENT
- 2-year term with the opportunity for reappointment by the Board of Directors.
- 3 Advisory Board meetings per year.
- Participation in annual strategic planning session with credit union leadership and Board of Directors.
ELIGIBILITY TO SERVE
- You do NOT have to be a member of the credit union to serve on the Advisory Board.
- Individuals interested in serving on the Advisory Board will be asked a series of eligibility and accountability questions provided by our Community Development Financial Institution partners to ensure they represent the credit union's member and community service area. Individuals who may fit into these eligibility and accountability requirements include:
- Business owners
- Elected officials
- Staff members of nonprofit, community development, or mission-driven organizations
- Individuals who live or work in the credit union's member and community service area
